Crochet Black Betty Amigurumi Pattern (Black Widow Spider)

Crochet Black Betty Amigurumi Pattern (Black Widow Spider)

Not every finished object goes on a shelf for gentle admirers. Black Betty is the kind of piece that makes people do a double take, all eight poseable legs, that deep black body, and those tiny red markings. Whether she ends up on a mossy display, a bookshelf, or gifted to someone who collects the unusual, she'll earn her place.

What's Included:

• Step-by-step written PDF pattern in US crochet terms, 15 pages with visual aids and photos
• Covers both the Southern and Northern Black Widow spider variations
• Includes size chart for six yarn weights from lace to bulky, so you choose your finished size
• Clear instructions for the wire armature that makes all eight legs fully poseable
• A finished piece that reads sculpted and intentional, not like a craft fair toy

What You'll Need:

• Light worsted acrylic yarn, approximately 50g / 175m for the original size (body in black, markings in dark red; sample uses Hobbii Everyday Acrylic in Black and Hobbii Amigo Light in Dark Red)
• 3.00 mm and 4.00 mm crochet hooks for the original size (hook sizes vary by yarn weight chosen)
• Gauge 18 (1.02 mm) wire for poseable legs and body stability
• Strong pliers, scissors, yarn needle, and fiberfill stuffing
• 8 black beads, 3 mm, for eyes
• Stitches used: magic ring (mr), single crochet (sc), increase (inc), decrease (dec), slip stitch (sl st)

Skill Level: Intermediate.

The pattern has been tested by ten makers across a range of skill levels. The wire armature adds a step that's new for most crocheters, but the instructions walk you through it clearly. If you're comfortable with amigurumi basics, you're ready for Betty.

Why Crocheters Will Love It:

• Six size options in one pattern, from a 10-inch micro version to a 39-inch leg-span statement piece
• Wire armature means every leg can be repositioned, so your spider always looks exactly how you want her
• Two spider variations in one purchase, Southern and Northern Black Widow, for twice the options
• Detailed step-by-step photos and visual aids mean less guessing and more confident crocheting
• Realistic proportions and poseable construction make this a genuinely display-worthy finished piece
• Works in any yarn weight you choose, so you can match what's already in your stash
• Intended for adult display, which means no compromises on small details or intricate construction

Perfect For:

Perfect for cottagecore and dark aesthetic collectors, Halloween decor enthusiasts, amigurumi makers who want to push beyond cute, and gift-givers looking for something nobody else will have.

Eight legs. Two variations. One very striking finished piece. Choose your yarn weight, cut your wire, and give Betty the dramatic debut she deserves!
